Troy Wolfe

Acrylic / Mixed Media

Troy is a native of a small, rural coal-mining town in northern West Virginia, where he had a successful career in cosmetology for over 20 years.

He has recently relocated to Florida’s east coast to pursue his lifelong desire to share his artistic creations with the public. After taking a class with an Art Spotlight artist, Troy’s creative energy became his second chapter. Troy is creative while staying grounded, emotionally perceptive, valuing texture, history, and beauty in imperfection.

He uses colors that are not timid. Teal against coral, acidic yellows, smoky violets, hot pinks, but not chaotic. His color choices feel felt, not just chosen. He uses scraping, layering, covering, reworking -- nothing is precious. He is comfortable losing parts to find something better. The layered transparency feels like you are looking through time, not just space. He reflects on his own life while processing life through making art.

Layered, Rhythmic, Emotionally Awake.

This current series shows Troy’s strong visual voice developing. It has been inspired by time spent on local beaches, appreciating the interplay of light, sun, sky, and sand in all their different shapes and forms. His art shows a clear grid, but it’s not rigid. The lines wobble, overlap, get blurred, and re-emerge. A framework to push against, someone who understands order but is more interested in what happens when he breaks it down.
