Sandra LaPrall
I am an abstract artist working in mixed media and collage. My work explores the intersections of texture, atmosphere, and form through multi-layered abstract compositions. Working primarily with acrylics, fluid media, and tactile elements on cradled wood panels and raw canvas, I build textures through an iterative process of layering, scraping, and veiling pigments to create depth.
Rooted in an appreciation for organic structures and atmospheric transitions, my paintings bridge the space between environmental and intuitive abstraction. Each piece develops organically, starting with curated color palettes, gestural marks, and translucent washes that interact with structural collage layers to capture movement. Through contrasts of soft transparencies against raw texture, structured lines against fluid color, my goal is to create pieces that encourage contemplation and conversations.
